The MATURE KING
· the "central archetype"
· orders the "realm", defines its vision and boundaries provides generativity, fertility, and blessing
· "father" energy - guides, affirms, empowers, mentors others
· generous, expansive - selfless service to the realm
· - wisdom & authority figure who accepts the Source of his power
The TYRANT USURPER - ACTIVE POLE of the SHADOW KING
a.. abuses the realm; takes rather than gives
b.. does not create but destroys
c.. lacks inner structure; fears own weakness and lack of potency
d.. easily threatened; oversensitive to criticism
e.. flies into rages; pouts to manipulate
f.. needs to be special; the center of attention
g.. refuses to delegate; controls, degrades, smothers others
h.. dictates rather than leads
The WEAKLING ABDICATOR - PASSIVE POLE of the SHADOW KING
a.. abdicates his authority; easily bullied and controlled
b.. no vision or direction for the realm; no personal power
c.. sense of worthlessness, vulnerability; can't face hardship
d.. lacks centeredness, calm, and security within himself
e.. feels unloved or unloveable; craves approval from others
f.. - slothful; lethargic
The WARRIOR ARCHETYPE
The MATURE WARRIOR
a.. decisive action; focused mind and body
b.. clarity of thinking; strategist and technician
c.. courageous; a healthy aggressiveness
d.. loyal to a transpersonal cause; necessary emotional detachment
e.. healthy asceticism; willingness to sacrifice for the cause
f.. discerning; razor-sharp evaluation of situations
g.. enormous self-discipline; inner and outer control
h.. accurately assesses his capacities and limitations
i.. - vigorous energy
The SADIST - ACTIVE POLE of the SHADOW WARRIOR
a.. cruelty; hatred of the helpless & vulnerable (his own hidden masochist)
b.. violent emotionalism; adolescent insecurity
c.. defiant, impatient, intimidating, unpredictable
d.. needs always to win; ignores or pushes boundaries of others
a.. - rebuffs criticism or advice; rebellious toward authority
The MASOCHIST - PASSIVE POLE of the SHADOW WARRIOR
a.. weak boundaries; takes too much abuse for too long
b.. cowardly; pushover, "whipped dog"
c.. projects Warrior onto others; experiences himself as powerless
d.. no passion or vigor; undisciplined, unprepared
e.. avoids conflict and pain; people pleaser
a.. - overcommits; can't complete tasks
The MAGICIAN ARCHETYPE
The MATURE MAGICIAN
a.. the knower: archetype of awareness and insight
b.. channeler of power; regulator of life functions of the psyche
c.. lives from his center; stable, not easily pushed around
d.. necessarily introverted; capacity to detach and live out of inner truths and resources
e.. master of technology and of nature
f.. the ritual elder, the shaman - initiates into hidden knowledge
a.. - capacity to think but not to act
The DETACHED MANIPULATOR - Active pole of the SHADOW MAGICIAN
a.. uses his knowledge to control and belittle, to bolster status and wealth at other's expense
b.. devious; hidden agendas; witholds information
c.. cruel, arrogant, condescending, cynical, suspicious, aloof
d.. isolated voyeur: thinks too much to live his own life
e.. cut off from his own soul
The DENYING "INNOCENT" ONE - PASSIVE POLE of the SHADOW MAGICIAN
a.. no energy; depressive, envious of those who live & act fully
b.. in denial of his own anger and manipulativeness
c.. paranoid; projects his shadow onto others
d.. feigned naivete'; presents himself as completely harmless
e.. "appears" to lack power drive; others have the power & knowledge
f.. can't find sacred space and time within himself
g.. fears abandonment; needs to please others
The LOVER ARCHETYPE
The MATURE LOVER
a.. archetype of the passion and sweetness of life
b.. celebration of life; play and display
c.. deeply sensual; healthy sexual awareness
d.. contemplative: compassionate, empathetic union with all life
e.. capacity for both joy & pain; sensitive to inner & outer worlds
f.. aesthetic consciousness; capacity for imaging & visioning
g.. sees and feels into the heart of others
a.. wants to touch and be touched by everything
The ADDICTED LOVER - ACTIVE POLE of the SHADOW LOVER
a.. opposed to all boundaries; lives for pleasure of the moment
b.. possessed by the unconscious; lost in ocean of the senses
c.. unconsciously identifies with God as Lover; refuses merely human happiness
d.. can't detach from feelings; victim of his own sensitivity
e.. no center; inner fragmentation
f.. eternally restless; compulsive search for "orgasm without end"
g.. idolater; caught in the "myriad forms", he can't find the One
h.. fears abandonment
The IMPOTENT LOVER - PASSIVE POLE of the SHADOW LOVER
a.. depressive; lack of enthusiasm, joy, zest for life
b.. no "vision", no spiritual connection
c.. bored, listless; feels only sterility & flatness
d.. cut off from his feelings; alienated from himself & others
e.. lack of appetite for anything; sexual inactivity, emasculation
f.. no ability to play, to have fun
g.. guilty, easily shamed
Bu tablo Robert Moore & Douglas Gillette'in; "King, Warrior, Magician, Lover; Rediscovering the Archetypes of the Mature Masculine" ve "The King Within", "The Warrior Within", "The Magician Within", "The Lover Within" adlı kitaplarından, ayrıca Jim Warner'ın "Aspirations of Greatness, Mapping the Midlife Leader's Reconnection to Self and Soul" adlı kitaplarından faydalanılarak oluşturulmuştur. Moore ve Gillette'nin kitabı "Kral, Savaşçı, Büyücü, Aşık; Olgun Erkeklik Arketipleri Yeniden Keşfediliyor" Sistem Yayınları'ndan sınırlı sayıda baskı yapmış, sonra sırra kadem basarak tozlu sahaf raflarında şanslı okuyucularını bekler hale gelmiştir.
